Staying within budget is the most important factor for a new home buyer to consider when purchasing a new home. San Diego real estate agent Keith Bryan explains more.

Staying within budget is the most important factor for a new home buyer to consider when purchasing a new home. Your next home, it might not be your dream home, and that's okay. But with a few carefully planned DIY projects, your little starter home may just be able to help you get your next dream home with your next purchase.

Like they say in Hollywood, bigger isn't always better. Keep in mind, the bigger the home, the more it's going to cost to heat up, cool down, and don't forget about those increased gas, water, and electric bills. Believe you me, it adds up really fast. And buying small, it's not always your best option. For example, if you're thinking about having a family, you don't want to settle into your new home, and then move out, before you get all settled in. But as long as you're realistic about your budget, homeownership should be able to provide you the peace of mind that comes with a fixed monthly payment. That's what you want, isn't it?

Oh, and you want to leave breathing room in your budget for those new windows, the new hardwood flooring, most experts actually recommend buying a little smaller home so that you can afford those upgrades and unexpected expenses. Well, what about hobbies? Do you like gaming? Woodworking, surfing, the outdoors? Well, if yes, then a spare bedroom or garage may just be what you need. Because having a little extra space gives you the room to grow into all under one roof.

And then there's the outdoors. Let's not forget about that. The gardening, spending all afternoon mowing the yard, think about it. Is that how you want to spend your time? Not me. I don't think you, either. So instead of spending the afternoon gardening, mowing the lawn, get out there and enjoy your weekends.

Last but not least, location, location, location! Don't forget those pesky commute times. Decide on what's important to you, before making your next purchase. I'm here to help you navigate through all these considerations to make an educated decision. Call me. Keith Bryan, 760-456-9471.
