What comes to mind when you think about your neighbors visiting your listing during a showing or an open house? If you’re like most people, the thought of this probably annoys you. You might even think they’re just being nosey.

However, even if this may be the case, today I’d like to share why your “nosey” neighbors can actually be an amazing asset when it comes time to sell your home.

In general, most people have three kinds of neighbors: Renters, homeowners, and “lifers” (people who plan to stay in their current home for the rest of their life). Each of these various groups can benefit your selling experience in unique ways, but the last group we mentioned will be particularly helpful. Why? Well, lifers tend to be huge advocates for the neighborhood.

Your “nosey” neighbors can actually be an amazing asset when it comes time to sell your home.

They’re very proud of where they live, so when they see your home for sale, they’re going to tell everyone they know. And these people don’t just want to see your home sell—they want it to sell for top dollar, because the more your home sells for, the more their home is worth.

Renters, too, are another group you want to show up when it comes time for your open house. These people may already love the neighborhood, but be tired of paying someone else’s mortgage. Your home could be the perfect next step in their real estate journey.

The bottom line is this: Embrace your “nosey” neighbors. Your neighbor could very well bring you the perfect buyer. Or, they might be the perfect buyer themselves.
